Quincy Jones’ early career found him touring Europe with Lionel Hampton, and working with Frank Sinatra as his musical director. Jones has always been at the forefront of composition and arranging in jazz, pop, film and TV, as well as music and TV production.
His first pop hit came in his early twenties, but he never turned his back on jazz. He was a lifelong friend of Ray Charles, having grown up with him. He also persuaded Miles Davis to do one last concert in Montreux a few months before he died.
