About The Event
Doors 6.30pm music starts at 8pm.
We are proud to announce a new Jazz CD by Sue Holliday, called, ‘Why Not Now?’ Sue, who hails from East London, began singing pop music at the age of 15. Over the years, she recorded for Oriole and Columbia records as well as some German labels.
Sue appeared on many major TV shows, including, ‘Ready, Steady, Go!’, ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’ and ‘The Braden Beat,’ as well as chalking up appearances on regional television shows in northern England, Scotland and Ireland.
Besides cabaret and ballroom appearances in the UK, Sue did theatre tours with Dusty Springfield and Petula Clark. Her tours also took her to Sweden and Australia, with radio broadcasts and TV appearances, including one with Bob Crosby (the great American bandleader, known for his group the Bob-Cats)!
Sue's preferred style of music has always been jazz, blues and swing & she is also a songwriter in her own right.
‘Why Not Now?’ is a beautiful blend of jazz standards and original songs - each discerningly and refreshingly arranged by Gabriel Keen and masterfully produced by Paul Higgs - and is the perfect setting for Sue Holliday’s warm voice and instinctive interpretation. There’s plenty of taste, here!
Of her new album, Sue says, ‘Through my title track, and the other songs I’ve included, I want to convey that you can live life and have love at any age, as well as enjoy songs whose messages and music are timeless in their relevance and appeal.’
